About Beverly Dyer

beverly dyer™ is a Chapel Hill, NC based fine art and stationery company. Soft and flowing with exciting color, Beverly Dyer watercolor originals celebrate the rhythm of life.

In 2004 Beverly started Beverly Dyer Fine Art Stationery. In 2006 she wrote and published "Cats and Dogs of Chapel Hill: Furry Tails About Town." With the 2009 release of the North Carolina State Symbol Collection, Beverly continues to build her niche as a North Carolina artist. The UNC Old Well Collection and the ECU Cupola Collection are steady best sellers.

In 2010 Beverly earned her Certificate in Botanical Illustration from The North Carolina Botanical Gardens University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her graduation exhibit "An Eye On Nature," will be held July 1, 2010 to August 29, 2010 at the DeBerry Family Botanical Art and Illustration Gallery at the garden's brand new facility.

A lifetime student, Beverly is formally educated in nursing, with both a bachelors and masters degree. Her latest project The Art Prescription (www.artprescription.com) weaves her two passions together.

The Art Prescription is a place you can come for a dose of art. It may be sketches from my garden, a new painting, a haiku or poem and guest artists. My hope is to provide a dose of art for anyone who needs it. Your dose can be a quick fix or a meandering visit. I welcome comments and ideas and please come back soon.

I am a nurse and an artist and part of my quest in life is to intertwine these passions. Art is healing. It boost the immune system, eases pain and depression by increasing good brain chemicals, and can be a way to release emotions.

Artist's Statement:

"We all cross through life from birth to death. During my years as a nurse, I've experienced many profound and intimate human encounters and witnessed the most tragic and joyful of human circumstances. This has had beautifully positive as well as distressing effects on me as a person. My goal as a nurse and artist is to maintain health and balance in order to be fully present on this journey of life.

Artistic expression through painting and poetry is inspiring and health promoting for me. I take my experiences and translate them into creative activity in search of meaning and understanding. Or sometimes I travel on a journey with my imagination and escape into fantasy by painting away the hours for the pure joy of it. For me, creativity is important to a well-adjusted life."

Beverly lives in beautiful Chapel Hill, North Carolina with her adorable husband Sam Dyer and their three cats Maya, Mocha, and Matisse.
